From: 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM
The Blanka Rosenstiel Lecture Series on Poland presents Solidarity Movement in Pictures, a photographic journey through one of modern Europe’s most pivotal social movements.
Taking place Wednesday, November 5 at the SIPA II Building on FIU’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus, this special presentation by Polish artist Maciej Aleksandrowicz showcases a compelling collection of images documenting Poland’s Solidarity movement, the grassroots force that challenged communist rule and reshaped the nation’s future.
Captured by eyewitnesses on the front lines, these photographs reveal the courage and unity of ordinary citizens demanding freedom and dignity. Through powerful visual storytelling, Aleksandrowicz explores how collective action and memory intertwine, offering timeless lessons on resistance and resilience.
Presented in collaboration with the College of Architecture + The Arts and the American Institute of Polish Culture, Inc.
