Song of the Soul: VIP Art Preview and Creator Experience

Yin yoga, live kirtan and a curator-led exploration of devotional painting offer an early look at the Song of the Soul exhibition before it opens to the public. Two preview sessions take place Monday, September 7 at the Marshall L. Davis, Sr. African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, with identical programs offered at noon and 6 p.m. Each session combines movement, music, art discussion and time in the gallery, followed by a vegan and vegetarian meal.

Presented by Sacred Vedic Arts, Song of the Soul centers on six decades of Bhagavad Gita-inspired paintings by artist and spiritual teacher Syamarani Didi, founder of the Miami-based devotional arts and bhakti-yoga community. The exhibition explores themes of duty, identity, devotion and spiritual inquiry through paintings rooted in the tradition of Krishna consciousness.

The preview begins with a 30-minute yin yoga practice in the gallery, followed by live kirtan, a call-and-response form of devotional music. A curator-led discussion provides background on selected works and the artistic tradition behind them. Each session concludes with prasadam, vegan and vegetarian food prepared and shared as part of the bhakti-yoga tradition, along with additional time to view the exhibition. Attendees also receive an art print.

Song of the Soul opens to the public September 11 and remains on view through October 31.
