The Soul Basel Open-Air Art Village is presented by the Black Archives History & Research Foundation of South Florida, Inc., in conjunction with the exhibit If These Streets Could Talk: An Historic Exploration of Black Miami Pt. 1. The exhibit explores the origins of the city, the development of Colored Town and its heyday, & the stories of the people who lived here. The Soul Basel Open-Air Art Village will be on the beautiful piano key plaza of the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater Cultural Arts Complex where featured artists will showcase and sell their artwork.

An exhibit dedicated to telling the true and remarkable story of Black Miami, from bygone days of incorporation to the revitalization of the decade.  A tribute to Miami's pioneer families, the exhibit explores the origins of the city, the development of Colored Town and its heyday, and the stories of the people who lived here.  Guests will walk back in tiem through visual representations of the fight for civil rights, the impact of integrations and Interstate 95 on a once bustling community, "Black Flight" from the gutted neighborhood, and subsequent ruggles with police abuse, health epidemics and gentrification.
