South Florida Symphony: Dvořák & Sibelius
Mar 10, 2026
Starting: 7:30 PM
A program pairing Nordic introspection with Bohemian lyricism brings two landmark orchestral works to the stage at the New World Center on Miami Beach.
South Florida Symphony: Dvořák’s Eighth & Sibelius’ Violin Concerto takes place Tuesday, March 10. Led by Music Director Sebrina María Alfonso, the South Florida Symphony Orchestra performs Jean Sibelius’ Violin Concerto with guest soloist Siwoo Kim, followed by Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8, a work known for its folk-inspired melodies and expansive, pastoral character. The program opens with Schubert’s Overture in D major, setting a light, energetic tone for the evening.
Sibelius’ concerto offers a contrasting emotional landscape, tracing inward reflection and dramatic intensity through a virtuosic solo line, while Dvořák’s Eighth moves outward in celebration of nature, rhythm and song. Together, the works highlight the expressive range of late Romantic orchestral music and its ability to convey both intimacy and exuberance within a single concert experience.
Tickets are available starting at $35.
