Speaking Art World: Engaging Curators, Gallerists and Other “Gatekeepers”
Apr 27, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
A professional development workshop exploring how artists can navigate relationships within the art world takes place at Oolite Arts on Miami Beach. Bringing together perspectives from both commercial galleries and institutional spaces, the session focuses on communication, strategy and professional practice.
The workshop takes place Monday, April 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. Led by gallerist Laura Burton, founder of Laura (the gallery), and curator Owen Duffy of Asia Society Texas, the program addresses topics such as studio visits, exhibition opportunities and building connections with curators and gallerists. Drawing on international experience across cities including New York, Houston and London, the speakers offer practical insight into presenting work and engaging with key decision-makers.
Presented as part of Oolite Arts’ Skills series, the session is free to attend and is designed for artists seeking to better understand the expectations and dynamics of the contemporary art ecosystem.
