Oct 08, 2025
From: 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
An evening salon explores Miami’s rise as a global center for contemporary art, shaped by its crossroads between the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe.
Sunset Salons at Vizcaya: Contemporary Art in Miami takes place Wednesday, October 8 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Main House courtyard, beginning with complimentary wine followed by a talk at 7 p.m. Led by artist and FIU professor John William Bailly, the program considers how to engage with contemporary art while highlighting key places to experience it across Miami.
Bailly, a British-French-American artist with an MFA from Yale, has exhibited widely in the U.S. and France. His work explores history, place and culture, with projects ranging from oil painting to collaborative cross-disciplinary endeavors. In addition to his artistic practice, Bailly has taught at Florida International University since 2004 and has led study abroad programs and cultural seminars focusing on Miami’s history and identity.
