Tea with the Queen

An afternoon of storytelling unfolds at the Coral Gables Museum as artists Alexis Rodriguez-Duarte and Tico Torres reflect on the creative journey sparked by their first meeting with Celia Cruz. Set within the exhibition Happy 100th Birthday, Celia, the program offers a personal window into how that early encounter in London shaped their longtime collaboration and how Celia’s presence, her grace, humor and unmistakable style, continues to guide their work.

The conversation traces moments from friendship to artistic influence, revealing the ways Celia’s legacy resonates across photography, portraiture and cultural memory. Guests are invited to listen, gather, and share in an atmosphere shaped by the warmth and reverence that surround her centennial celebration.
