The (Silent) Reading Party: Poetry Edition

A communal reading session centered on poetry invites participants to slow down and engage with language in a shared, distraction-free setting at Quiet Hours in Overtown. Taking place Friday, April 24, The (Silent) Reading Party: Poetry Edition is part of the O, Miami Poetry Festival and is presented in collaboration with the Books & Books Literary Foundation.

The program begins with a dedicated period of silent reading, where attendees can bring their own book or select from available titles. Afterward, participants are invited to share selected lines or respond to poetry prompts, followed by an informal social component with music and drinks in the venue’s outdoor space.

Designed as a collective pause from digital and daily distractions, the event emphasizes focused attention and quiet connection. The first 100 attendees receive a small poetic takeaway as part of the experience.
