The Geneva Window: A Centenary Celebration

A century after its commission, Harry Clarke’s stained-glass Geneva Window becomes the focus of an evening of scholarship and contemporary performance at The Wolfsonian-FIU. Taking place Friday, October 9, the program pairs a talk on the work’s history and reception with a new dance response staged throughout the museum galleries.

University College Dublin scholar Róisín Kennedy will examine the window’s creation and the controversy surrounding it, including tensions between state patronage, censorship and artistic expression. The evening continues with Pioneer Winter Collective’s this beauty that will pass, a performance inspired by the window’s literary imagery and its themes of beauty, desire and impermanence.

Kennedy’s talk is free with support from the Consulate General of Ireland in Miami. Tickets for this beauty that will pass are $20, $10 for members and free for Director’s Circle members.
