The Open Invitational

A new edition of Open Invitational Miami brings progressive art studios from across the country to the Melin Building for a weeklong celebration of creativity, inclusion and contemporary art.

Held December 1–5 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., the fair showcases work by artists with disabilities, foregrounding practices that expand who is seen and valued in the contemporary art world. With a mission to build artists’ careers while dismantling outdated hierarchies, the Open Invitational gathers more than 15 studios from across the U.S. and beyond.

Participating organizations include Artech Collective (NY); Center for Creative Works (Philadelphia, PA); Community Access Art Collective (NY); Creative Growth (Oakland, CA); Creativity Explored (San Francisco); Fountain House (NY); Interact Art Center (Saint Paul, MN); The Living Museum (Queens, NY); MAKE Studio (Baltimore, MD); NIAD (Richmond, CA); Progressive Art Studio Collective (PASC, Detroit); Pure Vision Arts (NY); Riera Studio (Havana, Cuba); 2BNONPROFIT (Miami, FL); and Atelier Blu Camello (Livorno, Italy) as a special project.

Visitors can explore paintings, sculpture, works on paper and mixed-media experimentation throughout the ground floor of the Melin Building in the Miami Design District. An opening party takes place Monday, December 1, from 6 to 9 p.m., with programming continuing daily through December 5 and additional hours extending into the weekend.
