The Recycled Orchestra of Cateura Live at the Garden
Apr 26, 2026
From: 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
A live performance and hands-on workshop highlight music, sustainability and creative reuse at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. The program features the Cateura Recycled Orchestra, known for transforming discarded materials into functioning musical instruments.
Taking place Sunday, April 26, The Recycled Orchestra of Cateura Live at the Garden includes an interactive concert led by director Favio Chavez, along with a “Build Your Own Recycled Instrument” workshop. Children and families can explore basic principles of music and design while creating instruments from repurposed materials.
Founded in Paraguay in a community surrounding a major landfill, the orchestra provides free music education to youth using instruments made from reclaimed objects. The performance offers insight into how creativity and resourcefulness can shape both artistic expression and community development.
