The Snake Head Project
May 14, 2026
Starting: 7:30 PM
A contemporary stage production at Sandrell Rivers Theater reimagines the myth of Medusa through comedy and audience interaction. The run takes place Thursday, May 14 through Sunday, May 17, with one evening performance each night. Presented in partnership with Fantasy Theatre Factory, the play blends humor with modern themes.
The Snake Head Project reframes the familiar Greek legend by imagining Medusa not as a defeated figure, but as a survivor living in the present day. The story follows her as she works as a healer supporting women affected by sexual violence, using satire and theatrical engagement to connect mythological narrative with contemporary issues.
The production incorporates interactive elements that bring audiences into the performance, alongside a mix of comedic storytelling and social commentary. Through this approach, the play explores themes of power, identity and narrative control while offering a reinterpretation of a well-known myth.
