Third Thursdays: Masisi Summer Residency-June
Jun 18, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
A summer residency at The Bass brings together sound, movement and community through the lens of Black queer Afro-Caribbean creativity.
As part of The Bass’ Third Thursdays series, the Masisi collective launches the June installment of a three-part summer residency that activates assume vivid astro focus: XI, the museum’s immersive, floor-to-ceiling installation. Founded by DJ, organizer, and artist Akia Dorsainvil, Masisi is known for creating spaces where nightlife, storytelling and performance converge to celebrate diasporic identity, queer joy and collective expression. Each residency evening introduces new energy into the exhibition through DJ sets, live activations and communal gathering, inviting audiences to experience the work as a living, participatory environment.
Taking place Thursday, June 18, the program offers an opportunity to engage with the exhibition in a dynamic after-hours setting shaped by Masisi’s signature blend of Afro-Caribbean rhythms, contemporary sounds and cultural ritual. Admission is complimentary with RSVP, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional details and the RSVP link will be announced closer to the event.
Third Thursdays are free public programs presented at The Bass, with support from the Art Bridges Foundation Access for All Program. The evening coincides with the City of Miami Beach Culture Crawl and includes access to free trolley service connecting participating cultural destinations throughout the night.
