Personal histories, cultural memory, and the idea of what we carry, physically and emotionally, anchor a six-month exhibition and event series presented by DVCAI at Barry University.
What’s in Your Container?, on view November 20 through April 17 at the Monsignor William Barry Library’s Institute of Immigration Studies Gallery, explores the container as a vessel of movement, preservation and care. Curated by Rosie Gordon-Wallace and Breeana Thorne, the exhibition draws on Caribbean, diasporic and transcontinental perspectives to consider how communities hold grief, resilience, joy and inherited histories. Through interactive works and installations, artists reflect on containers. literal and symbolic. as sites of memory and regeneration, inviting visitors to examine the stories and experiences they themselves carry.
