Willie Colon Forever Ft. Miguel Colon

Willie Colón’s hard-edged trombone sound, streetwise storytelling and defining contributions to New York salsa are revisited in a concert featuring Miguel Colón and a lineup of established vocalists. The tribute takes place Friday, October 2 at The Fillmore Miami Beach.

Miguel Colón, identified as the musician’s son Alejandro Miguel Colón, provides a direct family connection to the program. Tour coverage describes him performing with Legal Alien, Willie Colón’s longtime band, in arrangements intended to preserve the forceful brass, Afro-Caribbean rhythms and urban character of the original recordings. 

Tony Vega, Rey Ruiz and Roberto Blades join the tribute, drawing from Colón’s extensive catalog and the broader traditions of salsa. The repertoire may include music associated with his celebrated collaborations with Héctor Lavoe and Rubén Blades, along with songs such as “Aguanilé,” “El Gran Varón” and “Tiburón.”
