Best Events of Miami Book Fair

There are always new surprises and fresh characters at the Miami Book Fair. The longest-running literary festival in the United States is poised for its 42nd edition, returning to Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus in Downtown Miami November 16-23, 2025. With more than 550 authors from 35-plus countries and endless entertainment – hint, there’s a country music star this year – how do you choose which events to attend? We’re here to help.

November 16: Miami Book Fair Block Party, 4-9 p.m.
Put away your books and get ready to party. Every year, the fair kicks off with a can’t-miss block party under the stars at the Wolfson Campus Plaza. This only-in-Miami party is free and open to the public, with live music, food from local vendors and hundreds of books for sale. It’s a great way to mingle with other book lovers and rev up for eight days of literary fun.

Nov. 16–23: Spend An Evening With Your Favorite Authors
Fair-goers love the “Evening With” series, in which attendees get the rare chance to hear from cultural icons and literary powerhouses about what inspires them, their literary processes and their personal lives.
At these special events, speakers take the stage for intimate conversations, often sparking laughter and maybe even a few tears. Some of these ticketed events include a copy of the author’s book and free access to the Street Fair
Nov. 16: Daniel Silva, 6 p.m.
New York Times bestselling thriller novelist Daniel Silva will chat with CNN news correspondent Jamie Gangel about his new novel, “An Inside Job.” It’s a tale of murder, greed and corruption that follows art restorer and legendary spy Gabriel Allon after he discovers the body of a mysterious woman floating in the Venetian Lagoon.
Nov. 16: Kenny Chesney, 7 p.m.
Country music star Kenny Chesney, who’s written songs about his love of Florida, will talk about his first book, “Heart Life Music.” It features stories about the people and places that shaped his career and follows his rise to country stardom. Chesney will be joined by his coauthor, award-winning music critic Holly Gleason.
Nov. 18: Barry Diller, 7 p.m.
Media guru Barry Diller has had a remarkable career, from becoming CEO of Paramount Pictures at just 32 years old to founding the Fox Broadcasting Company at 44. You’ll be fascinated as he talks about his candid business memoir, “Who Knew,” chronicling his successes and failures.
Nov. 21: Mercedes Ron, 6 p.m.
“BookTok” sensation and New York Times bestseller Mercedes Ron, a Spanish author known for her “Tell Me” young adult romance novels, will spill all the juicy details about “Tell Me Softly,” her first book that has been translated into English. The book follows the character Kamila Hamilton, who’s caught in a love triangle with two brothers.
Tip: A great place to start or end an evening is the Lost Chapter Rooftop Lounge, where you can enjoy beats from Miami DJs, sip cocktails and mocktails and nosh on bites from Smorgasburg Miami pop-ups. It’ll be open from November 17–23.
Can’t-Miss Readings
Nov. 22, Padma Lakshmi, 10 a.m., Chapman Conference Center
Padma Lakshmi has done it all, from modeling to hosting the TV show “Top Chef” and becoming a best-selling author and Emmy Award nominee. Spend a morning with Lakshmi as she takes you on a delicious journey through her new book, “Padma's All American: Tales, Travels, and Recipes from Taste the Nation and Beyond.” It’s a love letter to the people who make and create American cuisine.
Nov. 22, Larry Charles, 1 p.m., Room 2106, Building 2
You may know Larry Charles from his work on iconic TV shows like “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” The Emmy Award-winning writer and director pulls back the curtain on his prolific career in his book “Comedy Samurai: Forty Years of Blood, Guts, and Laughter.” Expect never-before-told anecdotes about the shows and actors.
Hear From Miami’s Best Authors
Miami isn’t just a popular setting for books. It’s also home to many acclaimed and emerging authors. At the Miami Book Fair, you can hear Miami-based author Geoffrey Philp talk about his new book, “Unstoppable You: 50 Quotes from Marcus Garvey to Inspire Greatness.” Author Nadine Seide will talk about her USA Today best-selling novel “Only Lovers in the Building.” And if you’re into poetry, local poets such as Richard Blanco, Denise Duhamel and Miami-Dade County poet laureate Caridad Moro-Gronlier will also give readings.
November 21-23: Stroll The Street Fair
The three-day Street Fair is a book lovers’ paradise, where you can often hear the excitement before you get there. It’s the chance to explore hundreds of book vendors and handmade crafts from artisans and listen to live author presentations. Make your way to the Off the Shelf live music stage for high-energy performances throughout the weekend. Admission on Friday is free; tickets are required for Saturday and Sunday (children 12 and under are always free).

Family Fun and Enchantment At Children’s Alley
Beloved by families, Children’s Alley is a wonderland of educational fun and enchanting entertainment. There’ll be roving performers, storytelling, hands-on crafts, puppetry and theater, often led by book-loving characters Professor Wembly Wordsmith and Rita Readsmuch and their sidekick monkey, Stanza. Middle and young adult readers can look forward to author showcases that include E. Lockhart, Mercedes Ron, Trang Thanh Tran, Amy Timberlake and cartoonist George O’Connor.
