The food truck sensation changed the way the world does food and Miami is certainly no exception. A modern spin on authentic street food culture, these “meals on wheels” whip up everything from simple burgers and fries, to dim sum, nitrogen-infused ice cream, creative grilled cheese and some of the most traditional Cuban and Latin dishes around. These food trucks are a gourmet alternative to fast food and often act as test kitchens before a chef and their creative team goes brick and mortar.

Miami’s food truck craze has reached maturity with a number of beloved emerging and established food trucks and events throughout the city. While food trucks are constantly on the go by their very nature, they can be relied upon to hit monthly meet-ups around Miami. These are just a handful of the places and events where you can find Miami’s favorite food trucks.

Wynwood’s Second Saturday Art Walk

Likely Miami’s most popular monthly food truck event, Wynwood’s Second Saturday Art Walk becomes a late-night celebration where art, food and drink collide. While local galleries bring in DJs and keep their doors open late, attendees can wind their way through the ever-changing graffiti on Wynwood Walls and grab an inventive grilled cheese sandwich at the popular Ms. Cheezious, fro-yo at JOJI Yogurt or bao buns from Tumbao – all local food trucks.

Burger Beast’s Food Truck Festival at Magic City Casino

Organized by food blogger Burger Beast, the Wheelin’ Dealin’ Food Truck Festival occurs on the third Saturday of the month at the Magic City Casino. In addition to beer on tap and concert ticket giveaways, it’s filled with top food trucks like Amaize, ChurroMania, Kobschie's Ice Rolls, Miami Roasted Corn and World’s Best New York Gyro. You can also expect a festive atmosphere and live music by bands like Tropikalia for a fun and filling night out.

Food Truck Invasion

Food Truck Invasion hosts monthly meet-ups in Palmetto Bay Village (first Friday of the month), Miami Gardens (third Friday of the month) and Tropical Park (fourth Friday of the month). The city’s tastiest food trucks congregate at these parks and town squares for a family-friendly gathering centered around food.

North Beach Bandshell’s Food Truck & Music Fest

The North Beach Bandshell hosts a fun, festive and delicious meet-up on the fourth Thursday of the month with their Food Truck & Music Fest held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. A slew of popular local food trucks line up along Ocean Terrace for the evening. It’s complete with free entertainment and live music.

Miami Food Truck Events

Miami Food Truck Events organizes two meet-ups at Haulover Park and Virginia Key. The Haulover Park Food Truck Fest is held every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m, while Virginia Key hosts its festival every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. They’re great opportunities to mingle with neighbors, enjoy music from a live DJ and let the kids burn off some energy in a bounce house, all while sampling delectable food truck fare, of course.

Popular Miami Food Trucks

While the food truck lineup at these events rotates from week to week, you can count on strong representation from some of Miami’s most popular food trucks. These are some of our favorites.

Ms. Cheezious

Ms. Cheezious is one of the original Miami food trucks to develop a cult following. The award-winning food truck now has a brick and mortar shop on Biscayne Boulevard, but its roving truck can still be counted on for creative, crave-worthy grilled cheese creations like the Frito Pie Melt with house-made chili and American cheese or the Grilled Harvest with Havarti cheese and sliced green apples.

Latin Burger & Taco

The black and pink logo of the Latin Burger & Taco truck is always a welcome sight at food truck meet-ups for their award-winning namesake burgers and tacos associated with the brick and mortar Latin House Grill in South Miami. Don’t miss the Cuban burger made with queso blanco and guava marmalade.

The Fish Box by La Camaronera

Part of the Garcia Brothers’ longtime seafood empire headquartered on the Miami River, The Fish Box by La Camaronera food truck delights with fried fish sandwiches on pillowy soft Cuban bread.

Fireman Derek

With a flagship bakery in Wynwood, you can count on Fireman Derek to hit the sweet spot during a food truck meet-up with freshly baked pies. Popular slices include crack pie, key lime and apple.
