Where to Eat in Homestead & Florida City
- October 20, 2025
Homestead and Florida City may sit quietly at the southern edge of Greater Miami & Miami Beach, but its culinary scene has so much to offer. Tucked away from the bustle of Wynwood and South Beach, Homestead is home to a surprising number of hidden gems.
You’ll find everything from authentic Mexican eats and a beloved barbecue joint that’s been serving locals since 1950 to the southernmost winery in the United States, so clear a day on your calendar and head down – there’s plenty of delicious exploring to do.

Farm-To-Table Fare At The Redlander Restaurant
Looking for a winery in Miami? At Schnebly Redland’s Winery & Brewery, you’ll find light and refreshing wine offerings made with seasonal fruits like guava, avocado and lychee. It’s a great date spot, especially since once you’re done sipping the tropical wines, you can head to the on-site Redlander Restaurant at Schnebly Winery to enjoy farm-to-table cuisine with a very Florida-inspired tiki backdrop. Favorite dishes include the popcorn pork belly bites and gyoza tacos – each served with delicious dipping sauces.
Chefs On The Run Gets Wordly
Chef and owner Jodrick I. Ujaque grew up in his family’s butcher shop, where he learned to let his Puerto Rican roots shine through his flavorful cuisine. At Chefs on the Run, you’ll find an array of mofongo options with toppings that range from churrasco to chicken, and even a vegetarian option.
Other international flavors can be found in many of his dishes, whether it’s the Mongolian burger that’s made with beef, pickled carrots, daikon radish, soy lime aioli and Sriracha or the sweet chili lime chicken made with spicy Thai peppers. It’s been a hot spot since 2011 and, after one bite, it’s easy to see why.
Spice Up Your Life At Taqueria Morelia
Locals know that some of the best Mexican food in Florida is tucked away in Homestead, and Taqueria Morelia is proof. The Michoacán-style food is fresh and flavorful, paired with a salsa bar featuring offerings ranging from tangy tomatillo to fiery habanero. This spot has two locations: Homestead and Florida City.
The carne asada is a must, though the al pastor also holds its own, and the alambre is a sleeper hit if you want something a bit heartier. Simple, authentic and always satisfying, it’s the kind of place that makes you crave a taco road trip.
Casita Tejas Hits The Spot
A family-owned Tex-Mex spot, Casita Tejas is the perfect destination for lunch or dinner with a big group. The spacious dining room is full of natural light, thanks to its large windows. Its colorful plastic tablecloths are very forgiving (especially since you’re bound to spill a drop or two of salsa along the way).
The most popular item on the menu is the Burrito Norteño, which is filled with steak, grilled onions, rice and cilantro and topped with salsa suisa and melted cheese. The nachos are always a crowd pleaser, while the chile rellenos are super flavorful. Can’t decide what to order? Their combination dishes like the Guadalajara Platter feature a tamale, cheese chile relleno, beef taco, chicken quesadilla and bean tostada – the perfect concoction for a little taste of everything.
Celebrate Life At Nando Grill
For those who love a meat-filled dish, especially in the form of parrilla, Nando Grill is the place to go. Great for families and large groups, the menu features several combination platters consisting of steak, pork ribs, yuca, tostones, cachapas and more, served smartly on lazy Susans. All their meat is marinated in salt and grilled “en la vara,” (which means it’s cooked on a rod and over an open flame).
It’s a perfect restaurant option for those who are looking to make an event out of dinner. From pony rides and live music to dancers and the occasional bounce house, late-night visits get lively. Make sure to bring your dancing shoes.
Yardie Spice Feels Like Home
Yardie Spice is Homestead’s go-to for authentic Jamaican and Haitian cuisine, earning the title of TripAdvisor’s top local restaurant in 2023. Haitian-born chef Jean-Paul Cadotte and his Jamaican-born wife, Rochelle, bring their roots to the table with a menu that’s vibrant, soulful and full of flavor.
From oxtail and jerk chicken to whole snapper and vegan-friendly dishes like Leon’s legumes stew, everything is made fresh. In fact, they boast about not having a microwave in the restaurant. Don’t miss the sweet chili salmon with rice and spicy guac or the unforgettable conch fritters, crisped in malanga batter with a fiery kick of scotch bonnet. The portions are generous, the hospitality is warm and the food makes you feel like you’ve been welcomed into their home.
La Cruzada Takes Mexican Cuisine To New Heights
Another authentic Mexican spot, La Cruzada is family-friendly with affordable prices and crave-worthy flavors. The dining room is colorful and festive, but, if you’re looking to dine al fresco, you can always grab a table on the lively back porch. You’ll find everything from burritos and seafood to hot soups and tortas on the menu, but the tacos are the real standout.
Order the taquiza, a platter of five tacos topped with thick slices of avocado and served with sautéed onions and a blistered chile. When the temperature dips, the pozole is a perfect Miami winter comfort food.
Shiver’s Bar-B-Q Exemplifies Community
A Miami institution, Shiver’s Bar-B-Q has been open since 1950. Serving fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs and super saucy burnt ends, the restaurant is hard to miss – especially since it’s shaped like a long cabin with a chimney. There’s a window for takeout, which is great for those on the go.
The restaurant offers a few necessary benches outside, since there’s often a long wait on weekends. Once inside, you’ll discover it’s a no-frills kind of place with communal picnic tables and metal plates. Food is served just as warm as the friendly staff’s welcoming hospitality.
Broadway Subs Goes New York
If you’re looking for a good sandwich shop, Broadway Subs is a must. This family-owned fast casual spot is decorated with tons of New York memorabilia and covered in movie posters. As far as the menu goes, you’ll find tons of sub and wrap options, plus perfectly salted fries.
While you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, the Philly cheesesteak is the reason most people visit. Try it loaded with the works, featuring onions, bacon, mushrooms and provolone cheese. It’s a solid spot with quick service, and always a great option for those seeking lunch.
Keeping It Retro At Royal Palm Grill & Deli
Major retro diner vibes set the scene at Royal Palm Grill & Deli. Only open for breakfast and lunch, it’s wonderful for that all-American meal. Choose from plenty of southern specials, breakfast classics and, in true diner fashion – several different melts.
The three-egg omelettes served with hash browns are always a favorite. Don’t skip out on the tuna or chicken salad melt, served with your choice of Swiss or American cheese on rye or sourdough bread.
