Las’ Lap For The West Indies in South Beach

James Beard Award-winning chef Kwame Onwuachi of New York’s lauded Tatiana has brought his talents to South Beach with Las’ Lap, a rum bar and Caribbean restaurant inside the Daydrift hotel. The menu is rooted in West Indian cuisine inspired by the spirit of Carnival and Onwuachi’s Trinidadian roots.

Highlights include the playfully plated snow crab claw escovitch served pincers up, red snapper crudo, and Wagyu griot with pikliz, coconut collards, rice and peas. The pimento-smoked sticky wings doused in hot honey and jerk barbecue have outrageous depth of flavor, at once crunchy, tender, sweet and spicy and worth a visit on their own.

Mexican With a Hint of the Mediterranean at Bey Bey

A somewhat mysterious seasonal restaurant in South Beach’s Sunset Harbour neighborhood, Bey Bey brings a fresh culinary focus on creative Mexican cuisine with a dash of Mediterranean-influenced ingredients. Small and large plates are designed for sharing.

Tempting concoctions include tempura grape leaves with avocado and burnt Anaheim chile mayo, cured snapper aguachile, aubergine croquettas, skirt steak with Tiger’s rosemary and honey butter, and a “confetti” arroz prepared with saffron, pistachio and pomegranate. It’s a truly unique clandestine dining experience for those in the know … and now you’re one of them.
