Dining at Joe’s Stone Crab has become a rite of passage for locals and visitors who can’t wait to tie on a plastic bib to crack stone crab legs and dunk them in the famous mustard sauce. You can’t have Joe’s stone crabs without sides like hashed browns, onion rings and creamed spinach. Don’t forget dessert: The signature Key lime pie is the perfect way to end a meal. Keep in mind that unless you’re booking a private room, Joe’s takes reservations only through its website and the Resy app. Otherwise, expect a wait time of 90 to 120 minutes. Short on time? Next door, Joe’s Take Away also offers stone crab claws and many of the restaurant’s signature items (the fried chicken is delicious) as well as its own specialty items, such as the lobster Rueben and shrimp and scallop ceviche.

While this seafood staple in Little Havana has been around since 1976, it’s a secret gem for many visitors and even locals.La Camaronera started as a no-frills Cuban fish-fry joint where patrons ate standing up at the counter. It has since added table service and a fresh seafood market, yet it’s still home to one of the best fried fish sandwiches in Miami: the OG minuta sandwich with golden-battered snapper served on a Cuban roll. La Camaronera is a great place to mingle with locals as you dine on menu highlights like conch fritters, the fried shrimp or lobster sandwich, crunchy fish fingers or the shrimp and fish burrito. This old-school spot doesn’t take credit cards, so bring cash.
