35 Years Key Biscayne: Anniversary Community Celebration
Sep 26, 2026
From: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Key Biscayne’s incorporation and the people who helped shape the island community come into focus during a free 35th anniversary celebration at Village Green Park. Presented by Friends of Cape Florida on Saturday, September 26, the event combines oral history, exhibitions and opportunities for residents to contribute their own memories to the community record.
Programming includes a timeline and exhibition tracing milestones that led to Key Biscayne’s incorporation, along with appearances by local figures featured in the Cape Chronicles living-history project. Visitors can also explore a mobile museum kiosk with stories about the Cape Florida Lighthouse, the Tequesta and Seminole peoples, the Saltwater Underground Railroad and other chapters in the island’s history.
Guests are invited to add personal memories of Key Biscayne to the Cape Chronicles project, helping expand the collection with contemporary community perspectives. Admission is free.
