An Evening with Dave Barry

Spend an evening with Pulitzer Prize-winning humorist Dave Barry on Tuesday, December 3, at Books & Books in Coral Gables, where he’ll discuss his latest book, Swamp Story. Known for his witty takes on life in Florida, Barry presents a wild tale that mixes treasure hunts, quirky characters and chaotic Florida landscapes in this new comic novel. 

Swamp Story follows Jesse Braddock, a single mother who discovers a long-lost treasure in the depths of the Everglades. With her ex-boyfriend - an aspiring reality star - causing trouble and dangerous rivals closing in on her find, Jesse's life becomes a high-stakes adventure. Meanwhile, a local bait shop owner concocts a viral scheme involving a fake “Everglades Melon Monster” that unwittingly lures crowds and creates a frenzy in the swamp. The story, peppered with Barry’s signature humor, touches on Florida's unique culture and eccentricities as a presidential hopeful’s campaign event goes hilariously awry in the Everglades.

Presented by the Books & Books Literary Foundation and Florida House, this free event promises an entertaining discussion with Barry, whose career spans numerous bestsellers and a Pulitzer Prize in commentary. Books will be available for purchase at the event, allowing attendees to bring home a signed copy.
