An Evening with Dave Barry
May 10, 2025
Starting: 6:00 PM
From throwing rocks as childhood entertainment to winning a Pulitzer Prize, one of America's most celebrated humorists shares his journey of embracing life's absurdities with unrelenting wit. Books & Books and the Books & Books Literary Foundation present An Evening with Dave Barry on Saturday, May 10, where Barry will discuss his latest memoir Class Clown: The Memoirs of a Professional Wiseass: How I Went 77 Years Without Growing Up.
In this candid conversation at Books & Books in Coral Gables, Barry will recount his unconventional path from a Presbyterian minister's son to an acclaimed humor columnist for The Miami Herald. His memoir chronicles decades of misadventures, including his college days as an English major moonlighting in a rock band, his brief stint at a small-town Pennsylvania newspaper, and his transformation into a nationally syndicated columnist whose writings have sparked everything from a crusade against telemarketers to a heated defense from Neil Diamond fans.
This ticketed event includes a copy of Class Clown ($28.99 plus tax) with admission. Additional guests may attend for a $5 fee, which does not include a book copy. Books will be distributed to attendees upon arrival at the venue.
