An Evening with Jean-François Lejeune
Dec 14, 2025
Starting: 7:30 PM
Architecture, history and cinema converge in this evening devoted to the modern evolution of the Eternal City.
An Evening with Jean-François Lejeune takes place on Sunday, December 14 at Books & Books in Coral Gables, where the author will discuss his new book, The Other Rome: The Splendid Ordinary of the Modern City. Through vivid photographs, drawings and film references, the book reveals the beauty and humanity of Rome’s lesser-known neighborhoods built between 1870 and 1960, spaces where vernacular traditions and modern design coexist.
A professor emeritus at the University of Miami School of Architecture and a noted scholar of modern Mediterranean urbanism, Jean-François Lejeune offers fresh insight into how everyday life and architecture intertwine to form a “splendidly ordinary” modern Rome. The event includes a conversation, audience Q&A and book signing. Admission is free and open to the public, with RSVP recommended.
