Just because Miami boasts amazing winter weather doesn’t mean we lack in holiday spirit – we simply create our own version of a tropical winter wonderland. From Nov. 29 to Dec. 25, Miami’s Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami will be transformed into the magical Bayfront Holiday Village where each day an animated Christmas tree will sparkle with LED light shows, vendors will serve festive food and drinks, holiday music will fill the air, and you can even roller skate (in shorts) along glimmering Biscayne Bay. “We wanted to create a village where people would gather their loved ones and join in on some holiday cheer,” said Tony Albelo, event creator and CEO at SWARM.

This is Lit.

Think of this as a picture-perfect, outdoor holiday venue filled with twinkling lights against Downtown Miami’s skyline and waterfront. Keep your camera handy to snap larger-than-life displays that are Instagram-worthy, and you’ll have to divulge if you’ve been naughty or nice when you meet Santa for a photo and hand over your wish list. Kids can also pen a letter to Saint Nick at the North Pole Express Post Office. Every night, a decked-out, 50-foot Christmas tree will feature hourly LED light shows choreographed to three different festive musical shows. Kids and adults can also slide on a pair of roller skates, thanks to Bayskate Miami, and groove to skate jams as they circle the tree and fountain. Those who need to mark off their holiday shopping list should peruse a collection of 60 artisans offering unique gifts.

Other fun activations: Join the Gnauhty Gnome Scavenger Hunt, where you’ll use a guidebook to search Bayfront Park for clues to find the gnomes, solve the riddle, and win a prize. When we say you can bring the whole family, we mean it. There’s a dog park right in the middle of the action, where pups get treats and can dash around the park to burn off energy (and maybe not destroy your Christmas tree at home); and every Sunday there’s even a puppy brunch.

On Nov. 30, the 50-foot tree will be aglow when the switch is flipped for the tree lighting; on Dec. 13, Miami’s annual citywide street performance festival, Buskerfest, will make a stop at Bayfront Park with interactive performances throughout the park and Tina Hills Pavilion; and on Dec. 14, watch the decorated boats glide by in the Miami Outboard Club Christmas Boat Parade, which ends with a dazzling fireworks show.

Mark your calendar for special days at the Holiday Village, like Mistletoe Mingle Mondays, when the North Pole Beach Club will host a singles’ night; don your ugliest sweater for Ugly Sweater Night Tuesdays; and dress as the star of Christmas for SantaCon Thursdays.

Holiday Cheer.

All that celebrating will make you hungry, and you can find food, sweet treats and seasonal drinks at Bayfront Bites. If you’re over 21, head over to the North Pole Beach Club to imbibe festive cocktails like spiked eggnog and Irish coffee, or try a holiday spin on Miami’s favorite drink with the Peppermint Mojito. “The only thing missing out of this Hallmark-perfect scene will be the frigid snow, but that’s why we invite our neighbors from the north to come here to enjoy Bayfront Holiday Village, Miami-style,” said Albelo. So, gather everyone for a tropical holiday bash that promises to get you into the holiday spirit.
