An uplifting retelling of the Nativity story returns to the Sandrell Rivers Theater with music, movement and a contemporary African diasporic perspective.
Black Nativity runs December 11–14 at Sandrell Rivers Theater, presented by Brévo Theatre and performed in a concert-style format that emphasizes gospel-infused vocals, dance and narration. Based on Langston Hughes’s celebrated Song Play, the production follows Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem and features spirituals and choreography rooted in Black heritage and tradition.
Directed by Zaylin Yates with choreography by Terrence “TM” Pride, the show is part of a broader cross-county run that includes additional performances in Broward later in the month. At Sandrell Rivers Theater, audiences can expect a scaled-down staging focused on the music and ensemble performance, offering an intimate way to experience this annual holiday work.
