Starting: 10:00 PM
Detroit techno pioneer Carl Craig brings a late-night DJ set to Jolene Sound Room in downtown Miami. The event takes place Friday, June 12 and is open to guests 21 and older. Known for his role in Detroit’s second wave of techno, Craig has helped shape the sound of electronic music through productions that draw on techno, ambient, jazz, new wave and futurist ideas.
Craig’s work spans multiple aliases, including Paperclip People and 69, and his Planet E Communications label has been an important platform for Detroit electronic music. Over the course of his career, he has remixed artists such as LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, Friendly Fires and Pet Shop Boys while continuing to expand techno’s reach through club sets, recordings and cross-genre collaborations.
The performance takes place at Jolene Sound Room, an intimate basement venue inside the historic Julia & Henry building. Inspired by midcentury recording studios and 1970s leisure culture, the room is programmed by Miami native DJ Ray and designed as a close-listening space for dance music and local nightlife.
