Old school media collides for an evening of music, memories and art. Dust off your vinyl records for an Open Spin with Vinyl Social Club The exhibition "Casting Shadows | Framing History" is a contemporary response to ideas about black victimhood.  The artists seek out conter-narratives to media representations to address the emotional injury caused by racial bias and discrimination.  They appropriate, distort, and collage fragments of their personal histories together with fantasies to reimagine different accounts of black struggle and identity.  Drawing upon unofficial histories to highlight the care, intimacy, and relateions between individuals and community members. Their images, photo and film, reframe our understanding of BIPOC communities as being under siege.  Instead, these works capture rituals and encounters that demonstrate how our communnities have remained resilient and resistant towards ongoing racial disparities and misconceptions about Black lives.  The exhibition features artists Keisha Rae Witherspoon, Terence Price II, Carrington Ware and was curated by Tumelo Mosaka and is supported by The Miami Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts and Florida Department of Cultural Affairs.
