Ceaseless Beauty
This event has passed.
A chamber music program at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church highlights the lyrical and introspective compositions of Slovak-born composer Juraj Kojš. Taking place Wednesday, May 13, Ceaseless Beauty presents a selection of works that reflect Kojš’s background in classical piano alongside his exploration of neo-romantic and post-minimalist styles.
Performed by a quartet of musicians, Scott Flavin (violin), Jody Levitz (viola), Ross Harbaugh (cello) and Jacob Mason (piano), the concert features pieces drawn from the album Ceaseless Beauty as well as the premiere of a new piano quartet, Stretto. The program draws inspiration from the landscapes and cultural memory of Slovakia, shaping a sound that is both expansive and emotionally direct.
The performance is accompanied by video works by Dimitry Saïd Chamy, incorporating imagery by Mariana Kojšová to create a visual dimension alongside the music.
