Celebrate Miami MoCAAD’s First Ten Years
Dec 02, 2025
From: 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM
The Miami Museum of Contemporary Art of the African Diaspora (MoCAAD) marks its tenth anniversary with an evening that celebrates creativity, community and culture at the historic Lyric Theater. The program highlights MoCAAD’s first decade while looking ahead to its future as a museum at the intersection of art and technology.
Since its founding, MoCAAD has championed the work of contemporary artists of the African Diaspora and Africa, presenting exhibitions that merge heritage with innovation. Its commitment to integrating digital experiences has allowed audiences worldwide to engage with immersive murals, virtual shows and experimental programming that expand the very definition of a museum.
The anniversary gathering blends music, memories and vision, reaffirming MoCAAD’s role in connecting Miami to global rhythms while showcasing how technology can elevate artistic expression.
On the Lyric Plaza, Miami MoCAAD will launch its newest Virtual Reality innovation showcasing museum galleries presenting art exhibitions in virtual reality that will be accessible on Miami MoCAAD’s website. The exhibitions will present “Telling Overtown Stories, Saying Their Names” featuring Miami MoCAAD’s three interactive murals and “Looking Forward”, curated by N’Namdi Contemporary Fine Art, featuring five artists from across the diaspora. The New World Symphony Mobile WALLCAST® (a 23’x13’ outdoor screen) will show the exhibitions.
Inside in the Lyric Theater Lobby, step into the future with "Looking Forward", an art exhibition presented in partnership with N’Namdi Contemporary Fine Art, that showcases works by acclaimed artists Mark Delmont, Stephen Arboite, Maxwell Pearce, Sidney Blu and Samuel Nnorom.
