Feb 07, 2026 - Feb 08, 2026
Saturday: 7:30 PM | Sunday: 2:00 PM
Celebrate the power and diversity of American orchestral music in a program that highlights three composers who have helped define the country’s musical identity. From folk-inspired themes to modern reflections on migration and cultural rebirth, this concert offers a compelling blend of historical and contemporary voices.
Coleman + Copland, part of the New World Symphony’s 2025–2026 season, will be performed at the New World Center on Saturday, February 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 8 at 2:00 p.m. Conductor Ryan Bancroft leads the program, which opens with Charles Ives’s Country Band March, a playful yet complex portrait of small-town musical life. The program continues with Valerie Coleman’s Renaissance, a new concerto for orchestra inspired by the Harlem Renaissance and The Great Migration. The evening closes with Aaron Copland’s Symphony No. 3, a grand and lyrical work that incorporates his iconic Fanfare for the Common Man.
Bancroft, one of today’s most dynamic young conductors, is Principal Conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Chief Conductor of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. Known for his versatility and commitment to contemporary music, he brings deep interpretive insight to both classical staples and modern compositions.
Individual tickets for this performance go on sale July 25, 2025.
