Community Action Day at Fruit & Spice

Spend a morning immersed in nature while helping care for a living collection of plants that highlight the relationship between people and the natural world. This monthly volunteer opportunity focuses on supporting the gardens and greenhouse at Fruit & Spice Park, a unique South Florida destination for tropical agriculture and ethnobotanical learning.

The Community Action Day at Fruit & Spice takes place on the last Sunday of every month, with this month’s event scheduled for June 29. Volunteers will assist with weeding and mulching in the herb and vegetable garden, as well as tending to over 150 fruit tree seedlings housed in the park’s tropical climate greenhouse. Tasks may include removing vines, light gardening and other maintenance activities.

All ages are welcome, though participants should be prepared to work outdoors and bend for extended periods. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle and come dressed for the weather with sun protection and insect repellent. Advance registration is required through ParkLink.
