From: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Gifted with “structural intelligence, sublime sound control, and deep emotionality” (Prof. Jacob Leuschner, Brahms Competition), German pianist Jonas Aumiller is quickly rising as an artist of remarkable depth and individuality. His performances combine intellectual rigor with poetic sensitivity, making each program both illuminating and emotionally resonant.
Discovery Series: Jonas Aumiller takes place Sunday, February 15, 2026, at The Wolfsonian–FIU, presented by the Miami International Piano Festival. Aumiller has appeared on international stages from Berlin’s Bellevue Palace, at the invitation of former German President Joachim Gauck, to Japan with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. His artistry has been recognized with top honors at competitions including first prize at the 2021 Brahms Detmold, second place at the 2024 Hamamatsu and Rina Sala Gallo competitions, and second place plus the Audience Prize at Sendai in 2022.
Aumiller, who began piano lessons at age 7 after years of persistent requests, studied with Massimiliano Mainolfi in Italy and later with Sergei Babayan at Juilliard and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Beyond his performances, he is admired for his transcriptions of orchestral and organ works, which he integrates into his recitals to expand the expressive voice of the piano. His Miami debut offers audiences a chance to experience a pianist whose passion, discipline and artistry transform the concert hall into a space of shared discovery.
