Fiber Art Fashion Series: Dyeing
Aug 26, 2025
From: 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Explore sustainable dyeing techniques through fiber art in a hands-on workshop led by artist and fashion sustainability advocate Pangea Kali Virga at Oolite Arts on Miami Beach.
Fiber Art Fashion Series: Dyeing, taking place Tuesday, August 26, introduces participants to two creative approaches—natural bundle dyeing with plants and classic tie-dye. Attendees will practice on fabric squares for a collaborative patchwork and personalize a cotton garment of their own. All dyes and base materials are provided, though participants are encouraged to bring a 100% cotton t-shirt or item from home to transform.
The session emphasizes sustainability, self-expression and experimentation, and is open to all experience levels. Participants will leave with dyed textiles, a materials list for continued exploration, and new insights into slow fashion practices.
The class is taught by Pangea Kali Virga, a multidisciplinary artist and zero-waste designer whose work spans wearable art, installation and public programming. A graduate of FIT and current Artist in Residence at Oolite Arts and Foundation House, Kali Virga draws from a decade in the fashion industry to reimagine art and clothing as vehicles for cultural storytelling and environmental change. Her work has been exhibited across Miami and beyond, with recent solo shows at the Deering Estate and the Miami Beach Botanical Garden.
