May 27, 2026
From: 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM
Florida-made short documentaries take the spotlight at Silverspot Cinema in downtown Miami for FilmGate’s annual documentary-focused festival. Taking place Wednesday, May 27, the event highlights nonfiction films by local and regional creators, with the official selections to be announced.
Presented by FilmGate Miami, the festival centers on short-form documentaries that explore Florida stories, communities and perspectives. Eligible films are 20 minutes or less and must be directed by Florida filmmakers or filmed in the state, reinforcing the event’s focus on homegrown storytelling.
FilmGate Miami is a nonprofit organization that supports local creators through screenings, professional development and community events. The documentary festival is part of its broader effort to provide Florida filmmakers with a platform to share their work with audiences and connect with the region’s creative community.
