FIU Latin Jazz Ensemble

Rhythms from Afro-Caribbean, South American and North American traditions converge in a performance by the FIU Latin Jazz Ensemble. The program includes works by influential Latin jazz composers alongside original arrangements that showcase the ensemble’s versatility.

Directed by Dr. Michael Eckroth, a pianist and arranger recognized for his work in both contemporary jazz and Latin jazz traditions, the group features FIU’s student musicians in a concert of driving percussion, improvisation and layered textures. FIU Latin Jazz Ensemble takes place Monday, November 17 at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center.
