International Coastal Cleanup at Vizcaya
Sep 20, 2025
From: 9:00 AM to Noon
Volunteers help protect Biscayne Bay’s mangroves and hardwood hammocks during a shoreline cleanup at one of Miami’s most historic landmarks.
International Coastal Cleanup at Vizcaya takes place Saturday, September 20 as part of Miami-Dade County’s International Coastal Cleanup 2025. Organized locally by VolunteerCleanup.org, the event marks the 40th anniversary of the International Coastal Cleanup, a worldwide initiative that engages millions of people in removing debris from waterways. Participants at Vizcaya will contribute to the preservation of the site’s rare ecosystems while tracking their impact through the Ocean Conservancy’s Clean Swell app.
Volunteers should bring closed-toed shoes that can get muddy, water in a reusable bottle and sun protection such as a hat, sunglasses and lightweight clothing. Gloves, garbage bags and water refills will be provided. Check-in will take place at a tent near Vizcaya’s main entrance and ticket booth, with parking available on the east side of South Miami Avenue and overflow across the street at Vizcaya Village. Waivers are required, and community service hours are available.
This cleanup is one of more than 65 taking place across Miami-Dade County as part of a global movement dedicated to cleaner, healthier oceans.
