Kinoplex Movie Night: Mauvais Sang (1986)
Sep 20, 2026
From: 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Leos Carax’s feverish blend of crime, romance and science fiction comes to Churchill’s Pub for a Sunday-night Kinoplex screening in Little Haiti. Presented September 20 with guest host Alex Mizo of withbooks, Mauvais Sang follows a young ex-con recruited to steal a serum for a mysterious virus while becoming entangled with his employer’s lover.
Released in 1986, the French film was Carax’s second feature and stars Denis Lavant, Juliette Binoche and Michel Piccoli. Set in a near-future Paris, the film combines neonoir plotting with stylized movement, bold visual compositions and an eclectic soundtrack that includes David Bowie’s “Modern Love.” Mauvais Sang won the Prix Louis-Delluc and later received honors at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Kinoplex is a weekly community movie night at Churchill’s that invites guest hosts to select films and briefly introduce their choices. Screenings typically take place inside the bar, with occasional presentations on the patio or in the green room.
