Experience unique and inspiring works of art for free as part of MOCA's Art on the Plaza, a series of temporary public art installations on display at MOCA’s Plaza. The Art on the Plaza initiative commissions artists to activate the space and connect the museum to the community. This year's edition of Art on the Plaza starts in March 2023 featuring site-specific works by a different artist for three months at a time.
For the second outdoor exhibit in the 2023 Art on the Plaza series, MOCA presents LIZN'BOW (Liz Ferrer and Bow Ty)'s “El Mundo Es Magico" on view outside the museum from late June through late August. The sculpture features displaced queer characters in a mix of reality and fantasy within Miami iconography, inviting conversations of fluidity, gender, class and identity. Central to the duo’s work is the feminist reimagining of each element towards a more inclusive, fantastical worldview.
Art on the Plaza is presented by MOCA, with major support from the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (NMCRA). Additional support was provided by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
