Artists Josh Kline and Naomi Fisher examine how art-making, institutions and artist-run spaces respond to political, environmental and social urgency. Local Views: Josh Kline & Naomi Fisher in Conversation: Rethinking Art Infrastructure in an Age of Urgency takes place Saturday, May 30 at Pérez Art Museum Miami. Moderated by PAMM Senior Director of Education Marie Vickles, the conversation considers how artists build discourse both inside institutions and beyond them.
The discussion brings together two artists whose practices engage questions of social conditions, cultural systems and the structures that shape artistic production. Kline is known for immersive installations addressing class, climate change, labor precarity and the effects of emerging technologies on human life. Fisher’s work is rooted in feminist botanical knowledge and South Florida ecosystems, and she has directed BFI, a W.A.G.E. Certified artist-run platform she co-founded in Miami in 2004.
