Artist studios, printmaking activities and a Haitian Heritage Month film screening shape the May edition of Bakehouse Art Complex’s Open Studios. May Open Studios takes place Tuesday, May 26.
The evening invites visitors to explore Bakehouse studios and facilities while learning about the practices of artists working across the campus. Programming includes a 7 p.m. screening of Christopher Mitchell’s Mystic Triangle in the Audrey Love Gallery, a film rooted in fieldwork and interviews documenting Haitian culture and community experience.
Additional activations run throughout the evening, including paper airplane making with Shared Printmaking Facilities in recognition of National Paper Airplane Day, a visit to the exhibition Past in the Swenson Gallery and free books from Bookleggers, Miami’s free independent bookstore. The night concludes with karaoke in the gallery from 8 to 9 p.m., hosted by Augusto Esquivel.
