Miami E-Prix
Jan 31, 2026
From: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Imagine the speed, thrills and excitement of a Formula 1 race without the deafening roaring of the engines.
That’s a little bit of what the Miami E-Prix is bringing to Miami International Autodrome at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens Jan. 30-31.
The race is being run for the first time at Hard Rock, tracking the same turns as Formula 1 with the entire field of Formula E drivers.
This year’s event promises to be even more exhilarating than any before, as new technology and best-in-class racing teams are bringing a buzz to the sport.
What is Formula E Grand Prix racing?
The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is a racing circuit, much like the original gas-powered Formula 1, with open-wheel, single-seat cars.
The big difference is that the cars all run on electricity with high-powered batteries attached to their engines. The 2025-26 race calendar consists of 17 races across 11 cities, starting at São Paolo, Brazil, this past December and finishing in London, England, on Aug. 16.
The series also includes stops in Mexico City, Mexico; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Monaco and other global racing hubs. Miami will be its only stop in the United States.
How fast do Formula E cars go?
The speed difference between Formula E and Formula 1 is diminishing with each new generation of cars. The current top speed for Formula E cars is about 200 mph for the Gen 3 cars, though the on-track record is about 171 mph.
That compares to just over 230 mph for an F1 car. Much like electric passenger cars, Formula E cars excel at acceleration.
The new Gen 3 Evo cars, which will debut next season, can go from 0 to 60 mph in 1.82 seconds. That’s about 30% faster than an F1 car.
How long is a Formula E race?
Unlike most auto races, which have a specific distance, Formula E is timed, like a basketball or soccer game. Races last 45 minutes, about the length of time a car’s batteries can power the vehicles without a recharge. Whoever completes the most laps when the clock runs out is the winner.
Miami E-Prix Schedule
The 2026 Miami E-Prix packs two full days into the Miami International Autodrome. On Friday, January 30, the weekend begins with Change. Accelerated., a sustainability and technology forum on the future of electric cars. That will be followed by a driver/team press conference, an open look at the pits, and finally E-Prix practice at 5 pm.
Saturday, January 31 opens with another practice at 7:30 am, then E-Prix qualifying at 9:40 am. The race is short, beginning at 2:05 pm and ending at 3 pm.
Things to Do at the Miami E-Prix
The Miami E-Prix has plenty for fans to do besides watching the race. On Friday, girls interested in motorsports can attend FIA Girls on Track, a STEM-focused experience that features pit walks, installations and chances to talk with the women of E-Prix. Guests of all ages can also participate in pit and paddock tours ahead of practice on Friday. On Saturday, fans can take a “hot lap” around the track, and see what racing an E-Prix car is really like. Prior to the race, fans can also take a Grid Walk, walking on the race track with drivers.
Latin superstar FARUKKO will headline the musical entertainment on Saturday, which will also include multiple live DJ sets throughout the day.
Tickets to the Miami E-Prix
Tickets are now on-sale and offer three different experiences.
General admission tickets get you into a special GA area on the back side of the track, with no reserved seating. It’s the most economical option at $40 a ticket, and still gets you close to the action. Those who want a reserved seat can opt for Grandstand tickets, set right atop the Start/Finish line on the track’s home stretch. Prices are $80 for adults.
Those seeking an elevated experience can opt for the Trackside Terrace, which offers grandstand seating right over the track. These tickets start at $159.
Sustainability at Formula E
Formula E’s overriding purpose is encouraging the adaptation of electric transportation and reduce carbon in our atmosphere.
It has reduced its carbon emissions by 27% since its fifth season and is a signatory of the United Nations’ Climate Neutral Now initiative.
The circuit has also invested in renewable energy in host cities and now meets the criteria for carbon neutrality. Formula E recently announced it was reducing its carbon freight emissions by 25% next season.
How To Watch the Miami E-Prix
Can’t make it out to the racetrack? No problem. ABB FIA Formula E has plenty of media partners who’ll be streaming the event. They include CBS and Roku In the U.S., Tubi and TV Azteca in Mexico and TSN in Canada. Check with your streaming service to find out when the race will be on.
