Modest Mouse

From: 7:00 PM to midnight
A late-night outdoor set traces the long, crooked arc of Modest Mouse, a band that carried Pacific Northwest indie rock from scrappy basement shows into the strange middle ground between cult status and mainstream visibility without ever fully smoothing its edges.
The performance takes place on Wednesday, February 4, at ZeyZey Miami, following a recent tour run with Pixies and Cat Power that underscored the band’s continued relevance as a live act. Led by Isaac Brock, Modest Mouse emerged in the late 1990s with records like The Lonesome Crowded West and The Moon & Antarctica, albums that paired fractured guitar lines and off-kilter rhythms with existential lyrics that captured suburban sprawl, alienation and dark humor in equal measure. While later releases brought wider recognition, including the unlikely ubiquity of “Float On,” the band’s identity has remained rooted in tension, unpredictability and emotional abrasion.
The current era draws from across that catalog, alongside material from The Golden Casket, an album that reflects Brock’s fixation on technology, anxiety and fragile optimism through layered production and restless structures. In concert, those songs sit comfortably beside earlier material, reinforcing Modest Mouse’s reputation for sets that feel loose, volatile and lived-in rather than polished or nostalgic.
The show unfolds within ZeyZey’s open-air courtyard, complemented by a curated beverage program featuring seasonal cocktails, natural wines and non-alcoholic options. On-site dining is provided by Tacos María, serving grass-fed, seed-oil-free tacos made with intentionally sourced ingredients. Age restrictions vary by ticket type, as noted by the organizer.
