Mar 28, 2025
From: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
The rich musical heritage of Latin America's female composers comes to life through a special performance celebrating their enduring contributions to music history. Mujeres Latinas en la Música e Historia (Latin Women in Music and History) will be held Friday, March 28 at the Doral Cultural Arts Center.
Vocalist Alexandra Marie presents a carefully curated program featuring iconic works including Chabuca Granda's La Flor de la Canela from Peru, compositions by Argentina's Eladia Blázquez and María Helena Walsh, María Grever's Alma Mia from Mexico and pieces by influential composers from Brazil, Cuba and Puerto Rico. The performance also includes interpretations of Alfonsina y el Mar and Yo me Llamo Cumbia alongside selections from Alexandra's album Esencia de Mujer.
Accompanying Alexandra will be Cuban musician Juan Manuel Campos on violin and vocals, with Colombian percussionist Claudia Cubides adding rhythmic depth to the Latin American repertoire.
Following the concert, guests can enjoy a reception featuring Argentine culinary specialties provided by the Mariano Moreno Culinary Institute. The gathering will take place on the Doral Cultural Arts Center's rooftop, offering panoramic views of Downtown Doral as the perfect backdrop to conclude Women's Month celebrations.
