Porch Passages: Creole Collage
Nov 29, 2025 - Jan 17, 2026
From: 05:00 PM to 08:00 PM
Discover Miami’s creative spirit through Porch Passages: Creole Collage — a stunning new installation by Cornelius Tulloch, presented at the Marshall L. Davis African Heritage Cultural Arts Center as part of Knight New Works.
This immersive experience celebrates the architecture, artistry, and stories that shape Miami’s Black and Caribbean neighborhoods, inviting visitors to explore culture through a bold new lens.
Originally created for the Florida Prize at the Orlando Museum of Art, Porch Passages: Creole Collage was envisioned as an adaptive, site-responsive architectural installation. In this new iteration, the work deepens its community roots — evolving into a public stage for storytelling, intergenerational exchange, and cultural reflection.
As part of Knight New Works, the project integrated summer youth workshops led by Cornelius Tulloch and Arsimmer McCoy. Students from AHCAC and Miami Fab Lab explored the power of art and architecture through poetry and collage, creating 10x10-inch works that were digitally transformed into breeze-block–inspired panels. These student creations are embedded throughout the installation, making the community’s voice a central part of the work itself.
Complementing the indoor installation, the outdoor activation Porch Passages: Liberty debuts alongside the exhibition opening — a powerful public celebration featuring performance, procession, and creative exchange.
Porch Passages: Creole Collage opens Saturday, November 29, 2025, and runs through Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Marshall L. Davis African Heritage Cultural Arts Center. The exhibition will feature public programs, performances, poetry readings, and community engagement events throughout its run.
Join us for the public opening celebration from 5–8 p.m., including:
