Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre: Tropical Depression
Through May 29, 2026
Starting: 7:00 PM
Surrealist cabaret, dance-theater and Latin American music shape an immersive performance about exile, memory and resilience. Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre: Tropical Depression takes place Friday, June 19 from 5 to 11 p.m. at The Light Box at Miami Theater Center. Presented by Miami Light Project and Live Arts Miami, the work brings Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre’s layered performance style into an intimate setting with limited seating.
Tropical Depression blends tragic Latin American music, Caribbean glamour and immersive performance to explore nostalgia, displacement and collective catharsis. The piece reflects Herrera’s interest in theatrical images that move between humor, sorrow, beauty and rupture, creating a performance world where dance, cabaret and live presence intersect.
Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre has become a significant voice in Miami’s contemporary performance scene since its 2009 debut. The company is known for bringing together performers from dance, theater, opera, drag, performance art and contemporary ballet, with past works presented at the American Dance Festival, the Adrienne Arsht Center and Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York.
