Summer with the Symphony: Sparkle & Charm

Piano, violin and cello take the spotlight in a chamber concert by South Florida Symphony Orchestra featuring works by two women composers of the Romantic era. Summer with the Symphony: Sparkle & Charm takes place Thursday, June 25 at the Coral Gables Museum.

Presented as part of the orchestra’s Summer with the Symphony chamber concert series, the program pairs Louise Farrenc’s Piano Trio No. 2, Op. 34 with Dora Pejačević’s Piano Trio, Op. 29. The performance features Huifang Chen on violin, Christopher Glansdorp on cello and Catherine Lan on piano.

The program highlights the piano trio format through music shaped by lyrical writing, interplay among the instruments and the expressive character of 19th- and early 20th-century chamber music. A post-concert meet and greet with the musicians follows the performance.
