Rhythmic sounds from a French guitarist. A New Orleans-based band churning out soulful tunes. And the hot excitement of Cuban jazz. It’s jazz like you’ve never heard it before — and the seaside community of Sunny Isles Beach will come alive with five days of jazz concerts and events from November 14 – 18 during the 11th Annual Sunny Isles Beach Jazz Fest hosted by The City of Sunny Isles Beach.

For the past ten years, SIB Jazz Fest has been one of the city’s premier events, and this year, it’s even bigger — expanding from three days to five days of music. This year’s theme is “Jazz Around the World” and that’s just what guests will hear – unique music by musicians from all over the world. “The event is a celebration of exceptional local and national talents, and this year’s lineup embodies the various cultures and genres that comprise both jazz music and the City of Sunny Isles Beach,” said Kathy Fernandez, Media Manager, City of Sunny Isles Beach. “With the theme ‘Jazz Around the World,’ this festival provides guests with a truly immersive, international jazz experience.”

The event will kick-off on Wednesday night, November 14, in conjunction with the city’s monthly concert series at Samson Oceanfront Park, a palm tree-lined park situated on the beach, with a free performance by the unique Brazilian band, Jazil Brazz. Be sure to stop by the information booth to register to win two VIP tickets to Saturday’s main event.

On Thursday, November 15, the Residence Inn will host a Happy Hour, “Jazz on 9” from 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with specials on wine, beer and cocktails. While you sip, you’ll be transported back in time while listening to the vintage jazz ensemble, Vinyl Blvd. Also, Tony Roma’s will host “Jazz on the Beach,” a late-night happy hour with the classic jazz music stylings of Cesar.

On Friday night, enjoy a taste of Italy at a dinner hosted by Il Mulino New York at Acqualina Resort, where you’ll savor a delicious, prix-fixe meal and enjoy music from Cuban band, Verdecia Project.

The Main Event

The main event on Saturday, November 17, will take place at Gateway Park, a sprawling five-acre park with a performing arts stage, butterfly garden, a play area including an interactive water feature and a community gathering space. Expect to hear music from performers like the headliner, DUKES of Dixieland, a New Orleans-based jazz band; Accent, an international acapella group with vocalists from five different countries (cool story: the group actually discovered each other online and met in person in 2014); and Marc Antoine, a Parisian-born guitarist who is classically-trained.

“The Sunny Isles Beach Jazz Fest provides the South Florida community with a unique and intimate week of entertainment and events full of pure jazz,” said Fernandez. “With an exciting and award-winning lineup at the main event to a free kick-off concert by the ocean there is truly something for everyone.”

The event will have a delicious ending on Sunday, November 18, with a jazz brunch at Solé on the Ocean’s BALEENkitchen featuring a Bloody Mary bar, bottomless mimosas, and tasty dishes such as Duck Carnitas Hash, Cauliflower Quinoa Cakes and Chilaquiles Verdes.

For the Saturday main event, there are three ticket levels: General admission ($10), where you’ll bring your own blanket or chair; Reserved Seating ($20), where you’ll have a reserved chair; and VIP ($50) with reserved seating along with food and drinks within the VIP area.
