Jun 27, 2026
From: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Local leaders, artists, educators and community advocates gather in Historic Overtown for an afternoon of TEDx talks centered on collective progress. TEDxOvertown takes place Saturday, June 27 at the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater.
The 2026 theme, “Forward,” examines what it means to build momentum that is equitable, innovative and inclusive. Speakers will explore ideas related to housing, education, wellness, creativity, entrepreneurship, cultural memory and community-led change, with a focus on how local action can shape broader impact.
The program features voices from Miami and beyond, including astrologer and storyteller Adriana K. Smith, STEM education leader Brandon Okpalobi, multidisciplinary artist Darshae Spells, consulting psychologist Dr. Dominique Lavel Burrell-Paige, community midwife Jamarah Amani, wellness practitioner LaCriscia Fowlkes, Ocaquatics founder Miren Oca, program leader Natalie Robinson Bruner, Zora Neale Hurston scholar Rae Chesny and cooperative leadership advocate Shayna Johnson.
Held at the historic Lyric Theater, the event connects TEDxOvertown’s forward-looking theme with one of Miami’s landmark cultural venues, creating space for dialogue on creativity, courage, collaboration and shared futures.
