The Age of Revolutions and Its Lasting Impacts on South Florida
Jun 27, 2026
From: 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM
A panel discussion at HistoryMiami Museum explores how revolutionary movements shaped the political and cultural landscape of South Florida. The program takes place Saturday, June 27.
Scholars and historians will examine the long-reaching impacts of revolutionary movements beginning with the American Revolution and extending to uprisings across the Caribbean and Latin America. The conversation considers how ideas such as liberty, citizenship, resistance and self-determination influenced migration patterns, political identity and civic life in Miami and throughout the region.
The discussion also highlights themes of exile, identity and cultural exchange, offering insight into how global revolutions helped shape the diverse communities that define South Florida today.
The program is presented in conjunction with the National Archives traveling exhibition Freedom Plane National Tour: Documents That Forged a Nation, on view at HistoryMiami Museum as part of the United States’ 250th anniversary commemorations. Complimentary museum admission is included with the event, allowing visitors to explore the exhibition during their visit.
