The Cachita Lopez Quartet

Miami vocalist Cachita López brings a bilingual mix of Latin jazz, Cuban rhythms and popular standards to the Historic Lyric Theater in Overtown. The Cachita Lopez Quartet performs Friday, September 4 in a concert presented by the Sunshine Jazz Organization, drawing on López’s long-standing presence in Miami’s music scene and her ability to move across genres.

A performer in South Florida since the early 2000s, López has shared stages with artists including Gloria Estefan and Arturo Sandoval. Her debut album, Mercedes, reflects her Cuban heritage while incorporating the broader mix of influences that has shaped her repertoire, from Latin jazz and traditional Cuban music to disco, freestyle and familiar classics.

Founded in Miami in 1986, the Sunshine Jazz Organization supports jazz performance, education and audience development throughout Greater Miami, presenting concerts in schools, parks, theaters and other community venues.
